So for past couple months I have had what I thought was anxiety attack but they were panic attacks. Last night I had a true anxiety attack and has freaked me out it started I went to a recital for a friend and felt lil uncomfortable bc of the crowd well on the way home I started feeling dizzy by the time we were around the corner from our house I couldn't take it I had to get out of the car right then I couldn't breath my heart was pounding my hands and roof of my mouth went numb it was horrible. It lasted about
10 min but whats weird is my doc just startede on venlafaxine hcl 4 days ago and I have a anxiety attack is it the meds? Sorry so long

SSRI's can increase anxiety symptoms as they build up and level off during the initial start up.
So to clarify...you have had anxiety symptoms, but not a full attack before?
An anxiety attack and panic attack is the same thing...there is no difference, just a difference in terms.
However, it is possible to have had a few symptoms of anxiety simultaneously...as opposed to what you described, which sounds lke a full anxiety/panic attack.
I am sorry that this happened...it is awful to experience.
Check out our Resources if you haven't already. It has a couple of links on shutting down attacks.
Practice them everyday, when you are calm preferrably....that way you will be prepared if it happens again...hopefully it won't, but being prepared is always good.:)
I hope that you have a calm rest of the weekend!

Yeah, it is so ironic that the meds meant to treat anxiety can actually make it worse at the onset of starting them.
Give your doctor a call if it becomes intolerable, but also know that this is a passing side effect. If you can ride it out, you may end up with a really good piece of your treatment plan.
Hoping you are having a peaceful day.
