CM, I had a very similar path to yourself. Following a fall in Jan 2013 I ended up with severe anxiety/depression, with severe scar tissue or adhesions, but I'm now making good progress now with my recovery, so wanted to share things I've done. My docs told me that when you are in intense pain, you can use up your available store of serotonin, the pain pathway and depression or happiness factor pathway both need adequate serotonin. I personally used 5htp to help my serotonin and GABA to help my anxiety and as well it took me 9 months to get off Klonopin which was the only anxiety drug that my system could manage, and I'm still using the smallest dose of Doxepin for Depression. My main recovery and healing has been made possible via a hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT). I have a docs script
for a daily treatment, and in this last 3 weeks have made enormous advances using this. My pain has mostly stemmed from a major layer of adhesions that formed that affecting my Dura over the cranium, which is the sheath around the skull and CNS. These adhesions also increase my heart rate and blood pressure simply due to the pain and discomfort level. I also have balance, emotional and other issues, all associated with this type of post-concussion syndrome. After just the first 45 min session in an OxyHealth Repiro 270 Hyperbaric I was almost pain free - this effect lasted for 1-2 days, but as well it also brought a large release of the adhesions which reduced my pain significantly. During the next 5 visits this process repeated and then on the 6th session I had a major breakthrough. There was a larger release of adhesions that time, followed by a release of fluid through the back of my nose followed by the intense pressure in my Dura and Cranium being dramatically reduced, and my balance improved dramatically too!! What’s interesting is that I’m generally a little claustrophobic and with this concussion my anxiety level increased, so initially the idea of getting into a hyperbaric was something I wasn’t sure of, but I tried a soft bag chamber, and it’s been something that I’ve taken to extremely easily. From my first session the healing effect and pain reduction felt immense. The chamber feels large when you’re in it - I read books, do audio meditations and text friends! I now view folks on the outside of the chamber as the ones who are not getting the best environment for their body, and I look forward to each session knowing that my healing is at a much advanced rate due to this therapy, and one that my doctors and therapists and I can see dramatic improvements with. My first six sessions in an hyperbaric seem to have advanced my healing by 3-4 months of the rate I was healing at, so I am intensely grateful of this therapy and am now looking forward to getting back to full health, and living a full life again. . Wishing you great success with your recovery!
