When you were trying to take deep breaths, you may have already been hyperventilating.
I'd suggest that next time, carry a bottle of water with you. When you start feeling out of control, stop, take a drink of water, do a couple of your practiced breathing exercises and take another drink of water. Your parents shouldn't criticize you for water breaks.
It's difficult when it feels like no one understands or cares. I think most of us can relate to that feeling. I'm sorry you're going through that.
That said, your parents pushing you to do things that are out of your comfort zone is probably good for you and they may be doing it with that in mind to a degree. Stopping doing necessary tasks because of the anxiety related to them is the process that takes us from having a mental condition to being disabled. It's how those with social anxiety become agoraphobics who never leave their home.
You need, for you, to continue doing productive tasks. And - you know you can! Remember when you almost decided you couldn't run anymore? But, you CAN run! And that was a major victory for you!
Whenever you need someone who understands, you have us, friend.
