Larry,
For real? That's interesting. I'm a tad over 3 years into menopause at 50. I've asked my PCP about HRT and she flat out refused. It wasn't even up for discussion.
However, as I see it, the debate is that it just postpones the symptoms/effects of menopause. Well heck, isn't that what we're doing anyway? In everything we're doing? We try to postpone the effects of aging by eating well and working out....just because I'm going to die anyway does not mean I'll resign myself to do nothing because it won't change the outcome.
Horse pucky, if you ask me.
I'd rather have several good years than a dozen so-so years QOL-wise. Now that we've relocated and family's moving onward and upward, I've been giving this some serious consideration. My concern would include NOT wanting a reduction in my testosterone. When I work out (properly, that is), I build up muscle very quickly,....a smaller version of a linebacker. Think softball or soccer.
I don't want to lose that potential. But it seems just addressing the topic puts doctors on high guard...I wish I knew how to present "my case" in a more positive light.
