Problems with eating and sleeping are really common with anxiety!
If you are having trouble with appetite and/or nausea, here are a couple of ideas to try.
Meal replacement shakes such as Ensure of Boost are good alternatives to solid foods. They can be sipped throughout the day, and provide good calories and nutrients, while still being easy on the stomach.
Lean protein such as white meat chicken or turkey. Protiens such as these are said to have calming affects on stomach contrations that lead to nausea. If you tolerate these well, start to add in other bland foods such as bread, crackers, rice, applesauce, ect...
As far as sleep is concerned, here are some tips:
*Exercise! Get a good cardio pump during the day, but not within a few hours of bedtime.
*Cut caffeine out completely...or at the least 6 hrs before bedtime.
*Turn devices off a couple of hours before bed. The light source from TV, computers, phones, tablets, ect. work against our body's natural circadian rhythm.
*Natural suppliments such as Melatonin and L-Theanine or Gaba can be considered.
*Sound wave therapy such as binaural beats can be downloaded off of any app store, or found on youtube. These tones work on the theta waves in the brain to induce a sleep state.
If all else fails, it could be time to talk to your GP about treatment options...but hopefully between the help in our Resources and these ideas, you will find some relief,;)
Talk to you soon,
