Hi guys..went to the doctor. Said she believes I have gastritis. Is checking blood work and for gallstones also but does not think so. Has anyone had this. Still feel like crap. Prescribed 40 mg of pantoprazole. Of course scared to take it. Can cause anxiety....really! Also not sure if I can take it with paxil cr. Heard antacid stuff does not work with Paxil... She said my stomach needs to heal.

Anyone with experience.

I have a friend who just recovered from gastritis! He got over it just fine, but it did take a while, and he did have to take the meds for it of course.

Do you have the same prescribing doctor for your Paxil and the Pantoprazole? Did you ask about interactions? If not you should call your doctor tomorrow, or the pharmacist where you had the Rx filled.

I wish you much healing and a full recovery. Take it slow and easy and let us know how you are doing soon.

Gizzy, girl if your going to go to a doctor, then don't take his/her advice? I don't understand kid.
Gastritis is complicating your PAD, making it worse, you needed this break, something that would help
you to quit thinking you are dying! If medicine was really that bad there would only be a few real
healthy people left the rest of us would be gone!

Please give the meds a chance, at least these meds will not effect your mind! Peace

I doubt they will I react and if they did it wouldn't be major consequences. I have chronic gastritis for almost 20 years now. I've been put on everything under the sun for it. But I guess it likes me. Usually when a medication says not to take with antacid it's usually a magnesium base like tums. So in that case you would need to take them a couple hours apart because it's not an interaction per say. It's more of an absorbtion issues. So if you took them at the same time then the tums can block the effect of your Paxil.

So I'm sure you'll be ok taking them. If your that worried then call the pharmacy. But I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. Try to heal I know how uncomfortable and painful it is.

I take 40 mg of Pantoprazole (Protonix) 2x a day. I also take Effexor and it doesn't interact with it and also, I had no side effects, just RELIEF!!! I hope you decide to take it as it will get into your system and start to do what it needs to do!!!

The second time I took my husband to the ER for what we BOTH thought was a heart-attack, they gave him something they called a "GI cocktail" to drink. 20 minutes later, he was all better.

His PCP prescribed Protonix the next day and he's been on it happily ever after.

We haven't noticed any increase in anxiety. In fact, with relief from the symptoms of his GERD, we've had a lot fewer "epic" panic attacks, since those particular symptoms often triggered them.
