hehe - I used to be in a "clown ministry" - more like mimes than circus clowns, I promise not to wear any drama white around y'all!
Kitt - I'm sorry. :( There are clinic here that have a sorta "group" room for chemo... they're actually used for the people who can't pay as much, but I wonder if you'd be more comfortable in that setting (larger,
open area) or is it the tied down feeling?
My phobias:
1. IVs - I'm not scared of needles, shots, etc. Have multiple tattoos, am a regular blood donor, volunteered for research projects where they just needed a bag of blood from random people in the area, etc. But IVs! Gah! Especially in the back of the hand... shivers. I haven't had one there as an adult - I always request the bend of my arm before they even break out the alcohol wipes. But, I usually end up fainting/vomiting/etc. anyway.
2. Killing or injuring someone while driving. This leads to a lot of OCD, rituals, obsessions about
driving. This phobia literally controls my life at this point. (But, I can ride with reckless drivers without blinking. Phases me not.) Loaning someone my car provokes this phobia, too. The whole time they're gone I worry that they'll wreck because of maintenance I may have failed to do - brake pads, blowout, windshield wipers, etc.
3. Killing or injuring anything by accident. It took me 30 minutes to get a moth off of my curtains the other day because I was afraid of hurting his/her legs.
4. Poisoning someone by cooking. See #3. It can take me HOURS to prepare a simple meal.
5. People I know in real life figuring out who I am on this board. (I feel you, sweet Happy Bean.) My job is somewhat public (reporter/columnist) and people LOVE finding out the skeletons in my closet. Plus, it makes me afraid of getting fired.
6. Not pulling my weight - in general, providing at home, contributing to community, etc. This can lead to obsessions about
EVERYTHING.
7. Sexual inadequacy - I think this problem likely relates to my background of molestation and rape.
8. Having my feet restricted - too tight shoes (all my heels flop), too tight socks, dogs laying across my feet in bed, all sorts of things can provoke it. Like claustrophobia - but just for my feet. I think this also relates to the history behind #7.
There are lots more, but those are the ones that control my life the most.
