SymptomChecker,Hi, this is Kitt. I understand Health anxiety and have a bit of this going right now. Health anxiety is an anxiety disorder that is often housed within the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) spectrum of disorders.
If you have not had the blood lab draw CA125 ask your dr. to run this as it is a good indicator regarding ovarian cancer. If it comes back within normal limits than you can take a big sigh. I have done this test for four years in a row now as my sister had ovarian cancer. With each normal reading I go off and continue living my life knowing that I will have the test repeated at my next yearly physical.
Cervical cancer - did you have the PAP test at the clinic?
The Pap test (or Pap smear) looks for pre-cancers, cell changes on the cervix that might become cervical cancer if they are not treated appropriately. Also the HPV test should be done. The HPV test looks for the virus (human papillomavirus) that can cause these cell changes.
I am sorry you are in a tough spot with the health anxiety but it is time to kick this anxiety to the curb. When anxiety gets the best of you try to "distract, don't think." When I reach a point of disabling anxiety, it's more beneficial for me to try to get out of my head as much as possible. I will work on something that is fun to do, watch a movie, read a novel and surround myself with people whom I love and respect.
I do not Google as one topic leads to another and the information is going to increase my anxiety - especially when I read conflicting articles.
