S2S,Anxiety is a nasty thing to have and we did not volunteer to be one of the "people" challenged with all of the problems that come with anxiety. Big Breath and let me see if I can help you.
The good news is that while anxiety attacks can seem serious, anxiety attack symptoms aren’t harmful in and of themselves. I find I am in break-down mode every time I have to go out the door for chemo. I can hardly walk and getting into the clinic I have this strong urge to turn around and run butt somehow from deep down inside I remind myself that I can beat back the anxiety as I have no other choices.
Your symptoms are dramatic responses to being afraid. Being
afraid causes the body to stimulate stress hormones. Since stress hormones are
designed to prepare the body for action, the changes stress hormones bring
about can cause the body to exhibit symptoms .
Anxiety symptoms are simply sensory sensations of this biological
change. Again, they aren’t harmful, but they are letting you know that your
body’s stress hormone levels are elevated.
Try this Deep Breathing exercise:
1. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose. Keep
your shoulders relaxed. Your abdomen should expand, and your chest should rise
very little.
2. Exhale
slowly through your mouth. As you blow air out, purse your lips slightly, but
keep your jaw relaxed. You may hear a soft “whooshing” sound as you exhale.
3. Repeat this
breathing exercise for several minutes.
You can perform this exercise as often as needed. It
can be done standing up, sitting down or lying down.
We are all here to support you,
