Hey all it's been a while since my last visit or post. Hope everyone is well. My demons aka GAD is back, but starting to deal with them a little different these days and felt that this might help others. First off I am 50 now and have suffered with this off and on for most of my life. I have the constant fear of having a heart attack more than any other phobia. I have been to the ER at least 3 times and told I was fine. I have had every test, stress test 3 times the echo and nuclear dye etc. Yet I still battle this.
The last time my GAD flared up I decided I have had enough and would try something new. This has worked pretty well for me. This is what I have done to help with it. Anytime I get a pain, or feel shortness of breath or go into the "freak-out" zone I pick up my cell phone or look at anything with a clock on it, I make a note of the time. I allow myself to worry, but work on the breathing exercises I've learned from this site. When 5 minutes are up I say it's over and I'm still alive. It didn't kill me....
Anyways, hope this helps someone.
God Bless,
