You are wise to be concerned...good job on looking into this.

Is your prescribing doctor aware of your substance struggles? I would think that would make a difference in what Rx he would write for you...

I am not super knowledgable about these meds....but from what I understand, Tramodol stimulates the brain's opioid receptors, and as such could post an addicition risk. (non-narcotic, but an opiate!)

I would talk with your doctor and/or pharmacist about this possibility.

Another thing that you might want to do is check with the Chronic Pain Forum here. They will be pretty well versed in this subject I believe.
