scared about the dentist

i am going to the dentist today to get an adjustment on my denture. i am really afraid he is not going to do it right and my denture will be loose and/or falling out.

i went to an appointment there a few weeks back where he didn't put any more adhesive and my dentures came loose on the way home.

tomorrow i have a lunch to go to with my work department and i'm really anxious about that. what if my denture comes loose in the middle of the meal.

i can see the possibility that things will work out ok but i'm also thinking on a parallel track that things could really be messed up.

Do you use a denture adhesive on a daily basis?

As long as you take small bites, and chew slowly, you really will be okay. I was in a similar place when I did my externship and I used to have lunch with the staff in a small "lounge." There I was, sitting so close to all these other people, and all I could do was stare at their mouths, all the while, worrying about mine!

Promise....this gets better, and easier, and eventually you won't really give it much thought. How long have you been wearing dentures?

You are doing just fine. Honest! You're still early on in the process. It can still feel new as you learn how to work your mouth muscles with this new appliance in your mouth.

Been there, done that, totally relate! For a while, I never thought I'd get over that hurdle. You're doing far better than I was when I was only 3 months out!
