Display,When we wake up from a night’s sleep, a nap, or small doze-off, our brain is very active of course, and we don’t have complete presence to keep our subconscious thoughts under control. This is why we have nightmares and dreams and such. We can wake up stirring and full of anxiety – this is where the phrase, “woke up on the wrong side of the bed”, came from.
My Mom used to ask me this frequently when I was a child......which makes me suspect my anxiety has been around for a long time.
I am a huge morning anxiety and in fact the past couple of weeks have been high anxiety mornings. There are those times (and the morning is one of the most common times) when I feel anxious and filled with negative energy and I don’t know why. I can sit there or lie there wondering why I am filled with sadness (or anxiety). This is very frustrating for sure, and when a friend or family member notices your melancholy mood, body language, or tone of voice, and they ask you, “what’s wrong” – you don’t have an answer.
Try to let this anxiety move on through and picture a red stop sign - stop the anxious thoughts and write down the good things you are planning for the day.
Volunteering by helping others is what I do best to take my mind off of me.
Happy Wednesday,
