Citalopram vs escitalopram

Anybody ??? My anxiety after 2 weeks of been on Citalopram got worst,
Today my new doctor change to Escitalopram telling me it's more for anxiety which is my problem .... Also prescribe me Hydroxyzine pamoate to calm down attack of anxiety any feed back is appreciated

hey man had both, didnt like citalopram, really like escitalopram. Also have vistaril wjhich is hydroxyzine works kinda also have xanax. Escitalopram I just stsarted a few days ago its making me a little light headed but no anxiety issues really. hope this helps some...

With hydroxyzine wen you taking it?
On direction said 3 4 times a day.... My doc said wen I feel anxiety getting strong ....

Everyone will have a unique experience with any given med...but try to trust that your doctor is prescribing with your needs in mind...and that this could be a great plan for you.:)

Give it a chance and see how you do.

Use you coping skills during this time to get you through the switch and initial start up...and keep us updated. We will keep encouraging your and cheering you on!

Hi

I have taken both these medication in the past basically escitalopram is a newer version of citalopram and is much stronger intact it is one of the stronger sari's hence the max dose of 20mg I found it to work really well for my anxiety but as SC mentioned we are all different and what works well for one person may not work well for an other.

It is always best to discuss your concerns with your doctor and take their advice.

WOW!!!... This is what's going on...
I came back from the doc with both my medications... As usual few hour before going to work my anxiety start kick in,
So !!.... I think time to try hydroxzine ....... I felt a sleep till 15 minutes of my starting time at work... I weak up and if I didn't had took that medication I would have got the worst panic attack EVER !!!... Well not only was I able to manage the anxiety but I got to work and my anxiety is down to 15% from 85% of before falling a sleep ..... For now beside little dry mouth no side effect ... HYDROXZINE it's a miracle .. 👍

I have tried celexa and hated it . It made my chest hurt. I have 2 full bottles of Lexapro (esictolorpam) that I am afraid to start taking! Its 20mg. Still in the process of deciding if I want to be on meds but I hope the Lex works for you!

I took celexa for some months&it worked ok but started causing more anxiety I didn't like that part at all,and weaned myself off of it&would warn against doing it that way to anybody. Withdrawals weren't bad but I could tell they was still there&I wish I knew about lexapro,but me and doctor made the choice to go back to zoloft&God forbid if have to will be able to up it if need be. Has been a week today being on it,and Iam trying to stick it put&pray that it only gets better for Iam coming from a 10level to a 8&half right now but I seem to have more control&able to calm myself(finds wood to knock on) I take hydroxine too and notice I've went from days not having to taking it more&it could be the med change but hydroxine is a life savor.

I have been on both of these meds in the past.  I agree with SC, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for the next person.

Both of these meds worked for awhile for me - can't really say anything negative about them.

Hi Intel,

I am so glad that you found the Hydroxzine helpful in calming you!

It does sound however like it made you pretty sleepy? As an antihistamine, this is not unexpected, so you may have to consider this, and when you take it, until your body adjusts.

I wish you continued success on both of your new Rx plans!!

yah SC sleepy for the first hour than the anxiety was gone.... It's not the a cure but defiantly give me a break when in need... I switch also from Citalopram to escitalopram this morning my anxiety as been down to manageable just little nervous about the rest of the day..... Both medications make me sleepy but only if lay down ...
