Where do you stand in terms of your most recent physical? Have you been to the doctors and have they performed sufficient tests to rule out any organic causes?
I know for me, when I'm in the throes of anxiety, I'll not only burp a lot, but I'll also dry-heave (never pleasant). The more we fear heaving or burping, the more we shallow-breathe, and that can create a cycle that we have to figure out how to break.
The deep and mindful breathing is so important because with, for example, frequent burping, your diaphragm is getting squeezed over and over, which,....you guessed it,...contributes to that cycle where we're not fully utilizing our lungs.
Bloating also puts pressure on our lungs, from beneath....all these things can make you feel short of breath, and.....you guessed it,....anxious!
Get the all-clear from your docs, and try the Resources that HW provides on learning to manage your body. Hang tight and big breath....
