Gabapentin/neurotonin question for anyone that's used/using

This is a good and interesting question! I have heard it said that aside from water weight...medications can not actually make you gain lbs. (without a change in diet or exercise habits.)  Meds simply can't change the calories in, calories out rule of metabolism.

That said...I have read over and over again that people swear they experience weight gain from their Rx's without eating more or working out any less...

I do not know the specifics of your medication and weight gain, but you know, as I am sure, that everyone reacts differently...so you need to consider this, even as you read other's experiences.

I have read how some gain weight on a particular med, while others lose!

It comes down to just seeing how you personally do on this Rx.

I hope that it is nothing but good results, and that you are feeling your best really soon!

I have yet to lose weight on any of the AD meds. I have refused to take some such as Remeron as it makes you crave sugar.

I have read  3% of adults taking  Gabapentin gain weight. Diet certainly can be a help.

Random thought: Putting aside there's always at least one in every family that seems to defy the norm, genetics really do play a big role.

The other thought is that it's highly likely that her metabolism was in high gear because she was a tomboy (if by that you mean that she was always active, doing something physical, playing sports, climbing trees, using her body?)

The more we "diet" the slower our metabolism gets, and the less food we need just to maintain our weight. As S.C. pointed out, it always boils down to calories in vs. calories out. We're hardwired that way. To affect a change, we can rev up our metabolism with exercise, which not only burns calories, which may help stave off any potential weight gain, but it does wonders for anxiety in general.

I'm just floating some ideas around because as we all know,...everyone is different! Go into this with a positive mental, and physical, attitude, because truthfully, you don't know. So let's hold hands and walk in with the belief that, at least for now while you're "test driving" this new med, you're going to do just fine, you're going to feel better, and this'll be one of those "worrying for nothing" situations!
