confused cry Im so totally lost right now ... I stayed at home by myself for the first time in 2 months and I was doing good until I started to hallucinate and it set off my anxiety .. I fear hallucinating so the fear made it worst... I feel like im not getting enough air and just want to drop dead ... im tired of being like this .... has anyone else felt like this ??? Im currently taking 10mg of Prozac and 1\2 tablet of 5mg Valium ... is the valium making me hallucinate ???? Im freaking out shocked I will feel so much better to hear from someone else who experienced this.

Hi bre.,

Can you explain the hallucinations? Visual, or audio? Seeing something out of the corner of your eye, or hearing an unidentifiable sound is a big difference from seeing something/someone that isn't actually there, or hearing voices for instance.

What if anything has been your diagnoses? Have you experienced this previously?

Helping us with these questions may enable us to better advise you. Keep up your deep breathing in the meantime, it is going to be alright.

No I never had this before, it started when I started taking benzos..... my hallucinations are visual sometimes auditory ill see like dark figures or angel type floating things It scares me but when I take the valium the valium it goes away ..... my doctor ruled out schizophrenic so it must be the meds ... im just afraid of possibly seeing these figures again bc it sets off my anxiety and I become really paranoid ..

Maybe just try to accept seeing tha figures (I kno thts not normal) but at least u won'tb so freaked out aabout it. I feel the same way wen I am having an attack

Thank you ... but its hard to accept because I think im going to die if I let the hallucinations play through ... im scared and I dont know why.... this anxiety is holding me down .... I just want to live anxiety free and care free ... this is hard

Well, it sounds like it is medication related, so perhaps you can look at it as some kind of side effect?

As long as your doctor knows about it and has ruled out a more serious mental health issue, then I think that you are okay.:)

Have you tried discontinuing the benzo use? If so, did that help?

I have tried to discontinue them ... I was doing really good for about 4 days and I had an extreme panic attack and my doctor put me right back on them ... they do help but the hallucinations or visions whatever they are need to stop

Valium comes with a warning

Call your doctor at once if you have:

  • confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior;

I feel you need to call your Dr. as this does not appear to be the right medication for you and make sure you tell him about your hallucinations.

I am glad to know you received my message.   I do use Valium and I do not have any adverse effects but each of us is different and I want you to be safe.

Thank you for your kind words ... I have a doctors appointment tomorrow so I will discuss the side effects I have experienced ...
