electric shock after changing from Mirtazapine to Trazadone

My mom has been diagnosed with Anxiety, moderate depression and panic disorder. She was initially given Mirtazapine 30mg. She took this for a week and had no relief and a lot of side effects. She is now given sertraline and tradazone 100mg. After taking trazadone for the first time, she is feeling terrible, with electric shock feelings from head to toe and her BP spiked up. She takes lisinopril for BP during night. Wondering what causes this..Is this due to Anxiety and panic disorder she is dealing with, or is it withdrawal due to stopping Mirtrazapine or is it a reaction to Trazadone. We will consult her doc as soon as we get a appt. In the meantime, trying to understand the possible causes for this shock, tremors et.

Did you mom start the trazadone at 100mg the first night? This is a drug you typically titrate up on--when I started taking it five years ago, I took 25mg for a week, then 50mg for a week, then 100mg (I went up to 150mg for a long time). I'm not sure if starting at such a high dose could be the reason behind this side effect, but I wanted to mention that aspect of dosing. You may want to check with your pharmacist to see if there are any known interactions between the drug (although pharmacists should be doing this before filling prescriptions).
