You control your heart rate with your breath. It will take 15 minutes of breathing normally or so, but by breathing normally or slowly you activate your parasympathetic nervous system which tells your stress response to stop releasing adrenaline. Breathe, focus on other things, and tell yourself you're going to be okay. You gotta believe it. Then your body will know things are really alright because it's not getting mixed brain signals.
