Oh my golly, I can share in your feelings really, really well. Maybe for different reasons, but boy oh boy, can I share!
I have an extremely eclectic taste in music, pretty versatile, but there are some types which just rub me the wrong way. They're not just "not my style," but they make me physically ill. Certain frequencies, pitches, and tones,...I feel like I'm going to spaz out (I guess that's the official term).
I'm a loner and not much of a social creature (I tend to be selective in how, where, and with whom I socialize,...but that's my whole personality, not just related to concerts).
When we're feeling uncomfortable in our bodies and are already sensitive and anxiety-prone (for example, we feel paralyzed by fear that without our back up meds, we could panic and be lost)....trying to be chipper and attend a social gathering of something we dislike, can easily tip us.
I think, my opinion, it would be one thing if you were interested in......the group, the people, the music, the crowd...and were willing to test your comfort boundaries. That, I get.
But whether I have anxiety or not, the idea of going to a huge social event to hear music I have a distaste for,.....ppththh. Sorry, but I pass. That's just me.
Communicating your feelings about why,...not making excuses, just being honest and open,....it's the best way to go!
