Hi! I'm Angel, and I'm also a hypochondriac.
I also had bad cough, shortness of breath and back pain. I also thought it was lung related, and was so frightened about
it! I went to a lung specialist and she told me it might be GERD, and nothing's wrong with my lungs. I tried very hard to believe her, but negative things still ran through my mind especially when symptoms appear. But I am trying to understand and accept that until I have anxiety, symptoms will also remain.
Then, I joined in GERD forum here, and I've met wonderful people! We helped each other about
natural cure and moral support! I love this forum, and most of us there also have anxiety issues! You are not alone.
But mine I think is really a health anxiety cause All I do is worry about
health and nothing more.
If you need to reassure yourself, go for a second opinion. But if still, the tests come out fine, you just have to accept it and be calm. You see, all of us hypochondriac seem to doubt the outcome of our tests, and we seek reassurance despite of countless examinations. And if we continue to hop to different doctors, the cycle won't stop. I also advice you NOT to google your symptoms, and I think you might try to change a bit of your food lifestyle. There are many veggies and fruits that makes our mood change, they may make us calmer and refreshed! As for me, I admit I am still worried from time to time but I managed to control it, by remembering the tests which came out negative to any diseases, I remind myself that GREAT doctors told me I am healthy! Though there may be relapse and setback, I know coz ive been through it. But remember that everything will be ok just calm down. Try diaghpram breathing and muscle relaxation.
If you cant really handle your situation, it might be better if you consult to a doctor that can talk to you about
your anxiety. Let it go, let it out, and it really helps finding someone who knows exactly what's happening to you.
Just remember that we are all here to listen.
Ps: I have watched a clip from the movie Hannah and her Sisters, where Woody allen is a hypochondriac. I really laughed out loud because it's as if I watched myself! He did and thought exactly what I did! It made me accept my condition, and eager to change for the better.
You might want to watch funny movies or videos inorder for you to NOT focus on your worries, and start to have fun,be normal again and get your life back!
Best of luck, God bless! :)
