Panicking bad. Trouble breathing. Health issues

I'm not sure exactly what's going on. Doctors are giving me so many options as to why I'm feeling bad. Right now I'm like in a panic storm!!!!

My periods have been messed up for about 2 years. First I was having 2 a month now I barely have one. I haven't had a real period in months.

I saw the gyno on Wednesday morning. He said the klonopin could have caused all this. Because I also have no sex drive and other issues. So he said he wanted to test my thyroid and prolactin to see if those are causing problems. My thyroid came back low normal. But I haven't got the other test yet.

So I have to take provera to induce period then a week later start birth control to regulate period. I just took my first dose tonight. I'm freaking out that it's going to make me sick (my phobia issue). I'm so scared I'm gonna throw up.

Which brings me to being scared to take klonopin anymore. I've been on and off it since I was 16. I'm 33 now. I'm thinking about the long term effects it may have caused my body. I don't know how to quit taking it and I don't know if anything is reversible if it did cause me harm. I can't get in to behavior health till August 23.

I'm such a mess right now. These stupid psyche meds!!!!
My brain just won't stop with these stressful thoughts.

My heart aches for you. Klonopin can both be a blessing and a curse. I have it but take it only when I can't handle, and then I only take 1/4 of a tablet except in really difficult situations when I'll break down and take a whole 1/2 tablet (now, how is that for fearful - ha, ha).

I'm sorry you are feeling upset...

Our periods are subject to stress like anything else. So far the Doc is assured your tests are fine, so try to remind yourself of that.

Remember to breathe, and try to distract yourself with music, a fav movie or documentary or anything that helps your mind focus elsewhere. I find getting up and doing simple house chores have a funny way of helping my anxiety/panic. Simple chores.

I am pretty sure that your test results are going to come back fine. I know how much stress you have been under, and that can cause disruptions in the cycle. (that and eating issues...I once went 3+yrs w/ no cycle because of stress and not eating properly.)

As far as your benzo worry...if you can be seen in Aug to discuss discontinuation with a doctor, then I would just stay the course until then. A few weeks is not going to make a big difference in the big picture. However, if you would like to do some research before you go in, just to be informed...we have a good/informative site in our Resources called "The Road Back." for weaning off of Rx's.

Big breaths...use your coping skills everyday...3x's a day to stay in a good place physically and mentally. It is going to be alright.

Yep, I'm another one who's had messed up periods from anxiety and stress. I'm post-menopausal now, but whooo-eeeyy, I've had a good share of whoppers.

As S.C. mentioned, our cycles can be greatly affected by stress and diet. Hormones tend to be tricky little buggers and some of the first chemicals that make changes within our body.

I would also think that staying the course re: your klonopin until you see your doc in August should be fine. (Just my thinking out loud here)....making too many changes in a relatively short period of time can just add confusion into the mix of anxiety.

One step at a time and be kind to yourself.....

Thanks. I had a bad night. I couldn't sleep till about 4. I woke up feeling so anxious. I never even really gave any thought to the klonopin. I take sometimes up to 4mg a day. I've always been taking at least 3 a day. I'm just laying here shaking and a mess. I'm still waiting for the doctor to contact me about my blood work. I just saw my level on the website. TSH .41 and the range they use is .35-5.00. So to me it's showing low normal.

I hope that last night was better for you. I know how it feels to go to bed and wake up with anxiety...awful and exhausting!

I hope that you are not trying to quit the Klonopin on your own? At the level and the time that you have been on it, this is not advised...you will need a weaning schedule to be safe. You hopefully get this set up in August when you have your appointment.

I hope that you get your doctor's clarification on your questions regarding your CBC. I know waiting for that stuff is hard.
