Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site but not at all new to social anxiety, panic disorder.
I have tried several anti depressants. Paxil, Effexor and remeron.
The only one that really helped was the remeron. I've been taking this for almost 8 years and it seems to be pooping out to some degree. I'm back to early morning wake ups......not good since I need to work to survive. The wake ups affect my mood and I'm not as compassionate as I'd like to be. Some times I just want to get through my day, no fun!
Anyhow what I was wondering was, has anyone tried a medication that worked for anxiety and sleep?
I was taking Xanax but my doctor out the nix on that, because I had taken it also for about 8 years. I didn't feel addicted to it.
Well, anyhow if anyone has some good ideas I'm open to using your experience ...

Hi WLL and welcome!

I am sorry to hear about your Rx losing its efficacy.;(

You could consider trying another SSRI/SNRI...as you may react positively this go around...

...or perhaps you could ask your doctor about another classificaion of meds such as an aminokeytone A/D as in Bupropion or Wellbutrin...or a beta blocker, or even an antishistamine prescribed off label for anxiety.

Hello and welcome to HealingWell,

May I ask what dose of Remeron you were on and is there any room to increase your dose if you feel it is pooping out?

I have been on Trazodone the past 6-7 years at low dose for insomnia and it worked well.  However the past 3 months my anxiety and depression has been high/low so my Dr. suggested I go on Remeron for the depression/anxiety and stop the Trazodone (150mg).  The other choice was start using the Trazodone at a higher dose where it is considered an antidepressant dose ( 300mg).

I chose the Trazodone as starting a new med and the one I have always been afraid of (Remeron)  scared me.

I am on the Trazodone at 300mg but need to give it more time to kick into a therapeutic dose.  If I don't within the next couple of weeks, my Dr. wants me to go to 400mg.  It appears that Trazodone and Remeron are not generally prescribed together.

My main antidepressant now is Effexor XR 300mg every morning.  It has been a fairly good drug for me but I never seem to find the perfect one.

Thank you both for your knowledge and first hand experience on this. I'm hoping it goes well with the doctor, as I have a hard time going in and putting my best foot forward. It gets harder as my anxiety goes up, so sometimes I walk out an realize I haven't addressed everything I needed to.
I think I need to make notes😸

(I was thinking trazodone might be a good fit for me, from doing some reading ) I'm also working with a therapist as well. I've wanted to go more often but she is booked up and I can only get in every 4 weeks. So I need to address that as well.
