How is everyone? I have been off of here for a few months ( Iguess thats a good thing? ) but had a question because recently I started feeling diff on my medicine. Okay first of all, when I started my medicine Prozac I did a lot of digging online. A few people mentioned that when they're MFG (manufacturing) changed for their generic medicine they could tell they felt different. I have had SANDO mfg since i started and they just switched it to Dr.Re and I honestly feel like the anxiety is coming back. I feel myself taking a deep breath a lot. Am I just being paranoid or is there a chance it's different? anyone ever experience this?

Hello. I myself haven't been on either. But I can say for me, when my pharmacy switched manufacturers of my Prozac, I did notice. Luckily my pharmacy ordered in my normal brand and all was good. Find out if your pharmacy will special order your usual brand for you.

I have been on generic as well as brand name of a med and have always tolerated the switch.

I have not tolerated switches on *some* of my meds and needed to go to brand name, so I know this is a very real possibility. Honestly, I used to think it was hokum until it happened to me, and yep, I noticed a distinct difference.

From what I recall, generic meds are allowed by law to contain only a percentage of the primary ingredient. I may be translating this wrong, but with my CP meds, I know that I felt a difference on generics and it was then that I learned this, (while it gets dismissed by most docs and pharmacies), but there *can* be a discrepancy.

Generally, however, most people are unaware of the difference.

With regards to my Prozac (yes, I'm on generic fluoxetine), I've been fine.

Sometimes I think just noticing we're getting a different MFG can set up anxiety. One of my HBP meds just switched MFG's and I'm very sensitive,...this may be *my* imagination or real, but I don't feel the same. Who knows. We could just be over-analyzing "change,"....something many of us don't deal well with!??

I noticed it with my xanax right away. I always took the generic made by Mylan, and then they started giving me the generic made by Sandoz. I had to take MORE of the Sandoz brand in order to feel the same effect of the Mylan brand.

I just found a pharmacy that will special order the Mylan brand for me. The pharmacist I talked to said that some of the fillers in certain generics can cause your body to metabolize the pill faster, therefor it wears off faster...

Maybe find a pharmacy that will do the same for you like Cheri07 said.
