Three days after panic attack still feeling residual symptoms in AM

I hate this... after I have a panic attack every morning after that I awke up and feel nauseous, dizzy. I don't even have coffee anymore... my face feels numb and tingly. Later in the day I feel much better so I am trying to remind myself of this. If I give in to the feelings it gets worse, like yesterday. So frustrating - is this normal? Why are mornings so hard?

I have been known to have "rolling panic attacks", one attack after the other, where xanax didn't even help me, I went to the ER at that time, and the doctor knew right away and gave me a shot of Ativan, which did help me greatly.

I think we are so afraid of having another big panic attack after just having one, that the anxiety is heightened.

The last time I went to the hospital with an out of control panic attack, the doctor was so very kind to me, she gave me benadryl , I was like you give benadry for a panic attack, benadryl makes me panicky when I take it, but it was already in my IV.

Today would probably be a good to for me to pay the hospital a visit, I am beyond panicky, even after taking 2mg's of xanax.....go figure.

I am so sorry to hear you're going through this. I have been there, and it can be so defeating to not be able to take care of life like you once were. Just curious if you take any benzo's? I just posted to another lady that what I thought was anxiety for a long time was actually benzo withdrawl (Ativan). I would get dizzy, nauseous, couldn't think straight and it felt like someone was shaking my brain. Once I took a small portion of Ativan, the symptoms disappeared. That was when I finally realized it was benzo withdrawl. If you do take Ativan or something similar, I'll go into it in more depth, but for now I'll leave it at that!

So sorry you are feeling so off in the mornings. I know how terrible it feels!! :(

It could also be because our cortisol levels are highest in the morning to help us get up and get moving with our day. That natural push could be contributing to your already high am anxiety.

It's actually pretty impressive the high number of posts we have re: morning anxiety. I've certainly started some of my own because they feel so gosh darn intrusive.

They are so common and so many of us have come to realize they're part of our life. Learning to cope with them is crucial to our well-being. I know they suck, and none of us appreciate waking up to this....
