Kidney Stones

Hi All! I posted this in the Kidney forum but didn't receive any responses. My Doc suspects I may have kidney stones (I had blood in my urine and pain radiating low back to front kind of wrapping around the hip) I have a cat scan scheduled to confirm this but In the interim I thought I'd reach out to see if any of you have had experiences with kidney stones? Are these common symptoms, low pain in back wrapping around the hip to the front, upper leg pain? Pelvic or rectal pressure? Dizziness? I have terrible health anxieties so I always think the worst!!!

My BIL dealt with this issue...which can be uncomfortable, but treatble.

He passed a few, but kept making more, so he had to make some dietary/lifestyle changes, which helped.

He also had the procedure 'Lithotripsy' for some bigger stones, to help them pass. (this is an non-invasive, shock wave treatment to break up stones)

I am assuming that they ruled out a UTI, or kidney infection? I just ask because I have had the same symptoms from a UTI.

I hope that you get your answers and treatment going soon. Try not to worry...this is a fairly common issue...and, (sorry for the pun)...it will pass! ;p

If they won't give you a cat scan, request an X-ray. You can usually see them on X-ray film. Then the insurance company should approve a cat scan. Good luck!
