Let us know if the change in your environment offers any relief for you. That may be a contributing factor given the current state of your living situation.
The meds, yeah, truth is, you probably will indeed be told to be patient, that these meds take 6-8 weeks to take effect, that things can (and generally do) get worse before they get better. I've been on and off meds, (mostly Prozac) since it first came out in the 1990's. (Also tried other meds).
One of the last times I resumed taking Prozac, I recall (for me anyway) there was a period of intense, relentless anxiety where I felt hyped up like I had had too much caffeine or something. It wasn't wired as in alert, but more a sense of being restless.
However, remember that you are in charge of this along with your doctor, and if you sincerely feel that you've given this your best shot, or as much of a shot as you're comfortable with, then definitely, absolutely, and positively, discuss it with your doctor.
This may not be the right med/s for you. And that's okay too. You don't have to feel "forced" into a program that does not feel do-able for you.
