Whats the shortest amount of time I can take Lexapro(and get some effect)

I have an acute anxiety disorder created from some health issues I had. My dr said i should take lexapro for 3 months and gave me some xanex for sleeping for a few days. I'm 7 Days into the Lexapro and I've had some side effects(increased anxiety adn irritability, 0 increase in women, nausea , weird feeling in my brain/stem, overall feeling of being high)I think I just needed my brains fight or flight to be reset really. Anyways, I'm just not a fan of SSRI's, i dont like how they make me feel and I know once you are on them for a while, they are very difficult to get off of. Any advice from anyone? should i get off them immediately or keep on them for a month to get a benefit then ween off? Should i switch to benzo's or some other med?

I just started therapy and I really have always had grip on the cause. once i heard good news on my health, i stopped having panic attacks and sever anxiety. therapy is teaching me how to cope with future anxiety(cbt, relaxtoin, deep breathing)and will do a few more sessions. It was the physical residual anxiety from the early panic attacks I was having was why he suggested i take the ssri's. I was having random anxiety every couple days..waking up with a racing heart and sweaty palms, etc..i think i just need help with meds for a very short period of time to get my brain re-adjusted...I have only been on the lexapro for 6 days so i was hoping i was still at a good point where i could "reverse" my decision..you think once you go on an SSRI you should be on it for a year, even if the person is having a lot of effects and wont need it long term?
