I decided to distract myself from feeling so anxious today and it cost me $500. Shopping while under attack is a bad combo. That will teach my husband to send me out unattended and armed with a credit card. However my daughters and I both have a nice winter wardrobe.

Another trick?

Tuck a $100 bill in your wallet and pay CASH for everything. There's something, mentally, about breaking a $100 bill that makes it more difficult to spend that money! Hehe....

Hey if you needed some new clothes and winter wear...then it may be worth splurge. :)

Just put the breaks on the spending now...cause you don't want to set up an unhealthy and expensive coping mechanism!

...try the free ones in the Resources from now on, Lol!! ;p

I have used buying things as a pick me up for a long time now. Also stems from my mom and grandma mainly showing me love by shopping and buying me things. That's another story. Anyway, it's caused some tension in my marriage from time to time.

I'm sure you got some great things though and I'm glad it gave you a good distraction!

Oh I've been there! It's hard enough when it's just you...but add in some 'mini-me's' (I have two girls as well) that are fun to shop for/with...and there is no resisting, right? ;p

Gigi, that's crazy what you just said. My mom makes up for all kinds of stuff buying my girls and I things.

I'm really angry at my husband right now so I think that's another reason I didn't care if I spent his money. Let me tell you if we didn't have two kids and my oldest didn't have anxiety about the last time we broke up I think I'd be single. But I think that's another topic.

I justify my spending that way a lot too. If I'm mad at him/he hurt me, I don't care as much if I spend some money to make me feel better. I'm not saying it's right, but it does happen.

I'm sorry things are rough for you on the marriage front. I know how that goes all too well.

My mom brings a gift for my son EVERY time she sees him. It's a bit ridiculous and has kind of started to annoy me. Now he expects it and why can't he just be happy to see her? Why does she have to buy him something?
