So as we age (you young ones might not appreciate this) and especially when it's compounded by anxiety, sometimes we do things we wouldn't normally do because our mind is "clogged" with that anxiety. It makes us misplace things more frequently, forget what we were talking about, put the iron in the refrigerator (yeah that too) ....all those things that are usually associated with aging but also common during times of high stress and anxiety. The other day I poured some leftover bacon grease in a coffee cup to put on the dogs' food, then awhile later decided to "warm up" my coffee so poured some from the pot into the same cup with the bacon grease (thought it was coffee too). Warmed it up in the microwave and took a big gulp!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGhhhhhhhhh. Thank God none of my grown boys were witnesses ....that would have been my one-way ticket to Lazy Acres Home for the Infirmed. Did I mention I hate having anxiety???

Ewwwwwww! Thanks for the morning laugh!

My mom does silly stuff like that all the time. We call them Margisms (as her name is Marge). A couple weeks ago she put her bowling ball in the back of her car and forgot to close the liftgate. When she tried to use the back up camera when backing out of her parking place, she thought it was broken because she couldn't see anything behind her (because the camera was pointing up to the sky because the liftgate was open still). She proceeded to drive down the busiest street in town for about a mile or two before she finally realized the back of her car was wide open. And she doesn't even have anxiety!

LOL Andwes! I had such a good laugh now. I have also done crazy things before. It's so embarrasing.

LOL!!!!

A few months ago, when my anxiety was highest, I was looking ALL OVER for my phone and it was IN MY HAND blush

I'm only 43! LOL

Yes lesweet - I did the exact sme thing with my phone recently....how embarrassing...thank God I was talking with someone who suffers with anxiety too and understood completely!!!

I spent a fair amount of time looking for my white Mustang in the shopping center parking lot the other day...

It was a while before I realized I had many times passed the black Passat wagon, my husband's car...which I had taken for this particular shopping trip.;p

Perhaps A/P really stands for 'Absent Minded and Preoccupied'

Andwes - Hahahahaha! Thanks for sharing! So glad you can laugh at yourself...

Well, unfortunately, I have a similar story (I will share since you are)...

My nephew has a habit of peeing in soda and water bottles when he is driving in a vehicle (yes, he is that lazy and will not stop to use the restroom). He drives with me all the time so I have to try to look away and watch the road at the same time - its a skill I have developed throughout the years!

Well, the other day while driving to Cincinatti, I had an overwhelming feeling of "thirst". I had to have something to drink right then and I picked up a bottle of water (or so I thought) that was laying in my truck and took a big ole swig - can you guess what it was??? Yep, it was my nephews pee! I spit it out all over my window and dash.... it wasn't pretty at all!

Lord have mercy, I can't believe I told you guys that... hope this makes you feel a little better Andwes!

All I can say to that is "EMERGED"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...let me explain...

some popular facebook memes have the type that reads:

"ERMERGERD!!!"....another way of saying "OH MY GOD!!!" (think NorthWest accent of sorts)

Well, my daughters are not allowed to say the OMG phrase...(we say oh my goodness or gosh...)

so my youngest was confused...didn't get it, and wondered why so many memes had the exclaimation of "EMERGED!!"

She was like, "What's emerging, and from where?"

We had a good laugh over this...

So, like I said....all I have in reply to your story is...

"EMERGED!!!!"

It's great that you're raising your kids so well... We need more of that in this country!

I was never allowed to say the f-word when I was a kid (F-a-r-t). To this day I still say "toot"! My friends look at me like I am insane!

Well I guess the pee story outdoes mine but I have to admit the same thing almost happened to me once. Just shows we're all human and even with anxiety or not, we all can do some pretty crazy stuff!!! Today has been a pretty tough one for me...internal tremors all day...so this laughter does me alot of good!!!!

Has anyone ever ran into a room for something then suddenly forget what it was? Or look all over for your glasses and they are ontop of your head? Lol

I seriously love you for sharing this!!!! I often get afraid that I am in the early stages of dementia but I'm finding out this type of stuff is all too common. The ability to laugh about it sure makes it easier.

And you are dead on about the anxiety making it worse. It has definitely clogged up my brain even more than it already was!!!
