Hi Friends!!

So sorry I've been MIA this week. I have 3 EXAMS this week and am just trying to keep up with all of that and make it through the week.

I had a bit of a scare last night. I was studying when all of a sudden I started to see a small circle in my peripheral vision in my right eye. It started getting bigger until there was a half circle about the size of a baseball with flashing, colored jagged edges. It lasted about 25 min and went away. I called my eye dr. this morning and asked to schedule an appt next week. They said, you need to come in TODAY! So, off I went. They did a thorough exam to check for a detached retina. All was good, eyes looked perfect. That means it was an ocular migraine. Anyone ever have one of those?? It was so scary, but I'm glad I got it checked out.

In other news, I am FINALLY feeling better!!! Cough is almost gone and I can smell again!!! YAY!! Still a little lingering fatigue, but SO much better.

about your eye.... This is so crazy, but I had pretty much this SAME exact thing happen to me back in February of this year. I did not go to a doctor, but my vision was doing that same exact thing! I totally freaked out. I was blinded by all the colors in my eye for around 30 minutes to an hour. My husband said that it was likely due to my lack of sleep and stress. I had only been sleeping 4.5 hours a night in 2 hour intervals for around 4 weeks straight.

I am so happy that you're ok though, and now I am going to visit Dr. Google and see if maybe what I experienced was an ocular migraine too!

Well, turns out I didn't have an ocular migraine, lol... because I didn't have a headache involved with it. I'll just throw that memory back into the good old pile of those I'd like to forget! :)

TMA- normally you DON'T have a headache with an ocular migraine. If you develop a headache, it is then a regular migraine. You only had it happen the one time? I'm (and my doc) chalking it up to the long hours (and little sleep) I'm putting in studying this week. I hope it (the ocular migraine) doesn't become a regular occurrence!

The smelling is so great...and great suggestions of places to smell! I was at the mall with my mom and we walked by a hair care/beauty product store and all of a sudden it hit me! I was like, I CAN SMELL THE STORE!! It was great! :)

When are your exams? Good luck with them & great job studying hard for them albeit an ocular migraine 👀

You were missed here but we know you're busy busy. Holiday break coming soon enough!

Yes- three crazy weeks of exams and then Thanksgiving! Can't wait! Then a MONTH off for winter break.

Your quote is very appropriate tonight. If you're going through hell, keep going! I, no lie, talked to 5 of my classmates today that want to quit too. It's madness right now and we just found out we have 30 credits next semester!

It's good to know you're not alone & your classmates have had the same doubts. Now that I think abt, my niece said sophomore year in med school was rough & that's when ppl think they're going to drop out! I remember her having anxiety and crying a lot! She's now in her 3rd yr of residency so there is hope for you too!!

My doggies are fine. Clean bill of health. They just went to get their rabies booster.

Aren't those ocular migranes crazy!?!? I've had about 5 or 6 of them over the past couple of years. The first one I ever had, I thought I was going blind!! Luckily I usually only get them about once a year.

MissGigi, so glad to hear from you!! You've been on my mind.

So glad to hear you're feeling better and you can smell again! I'm sure that eased your mind!!

Send you tons of brain power for your exams and then yay for the nice long break you'll get after!

I also thought of you at the vet the other day. We board our dog at the vet anytime we are out of town, because that's where we feel safest leaving him. The doorbell makes him insane and everytime we open it, he tries to run out. He's a pain like that. Anyway we boarded him on Halloween so the door wouldn't make him crazy and asked them to groom him with sort of a puppy cut for when we picked him up the next day. Apparently the groomer is on maternity leave so one of the assistants did it and oh my lord.....he basically looks like a lion. His body is buzzed but his face and tail are still long and fluffy! I laughed so hard I was crying. Thankfully I can already see it growing back!! :)

Glad you got through your exams!! I am sure you did great.:)

Sorry to hear about the migraine. ..I have had various symptoms with mine...vertigo/weird vision stuff...speech impairment...and only moderate headache if any. It is the aura stuff that is the worst part!

I hope that you can get some rest now, with your exams complete!

MG, Yes it happened only one time in February! :) Hopefully never again as it was really frightening! I guess if it does happen again though, next time it won't be as frightening! :) Keep in touch! Good luck on those tests! :)
