I couldn't sleep well last night. I couldn't fall asleep until late then got up early. Since I've been up I have been panicking all day. It started as soon as I woke up. My heart was pounding so fast and I was hot. Then I panicked again after I took my prozac. After almost 2 hours I finally calmed down. I was sitting on the couch and felt my heart flutter and now it's back. I keep checking my pulse and get more scared when I feel it flop. I do have mitral valve prolapse and my heart jumps around. For some reason it's really bothering me today. Right now I'm clammy and dizzy. I feel like I take 2 steps forward and 10 steps back. Today I feel like this nightmare is never going to end. I was so positive yesterday. Today... Not so much

Sorry to hear that you are having a rough day today.:(

Use my mantra to help you get through...I have found it so helpful and comforting during tough times with physical symptoms.

"I am okay...this is just anxiety making me feel this way."

Scaredy Cat is awesome! Always has those great ideas! I have had many a few days just like yours is going bambi. It can be super tough when we experience one positive day, because it makes the tough ones seem REALLY tough. But like SC said above, this is just anxiety......this is just anxiety. The phrase I usually tell myself is, "Rejoice on the good days, and ride out the bad days." I'm weathering a tough day as well...so you're not alone in this! Freezing cold weather usually does this to me. Then one of my kids is REALLY SICK today too.

Try not to take your pulse too often today if you can. One trick that I use when I am concerned about my heart, but don't want it to cause panic is to allow myself to take my pulse for only 30 seconds and no more than once an hour. If it's relatively normal within that 30 seconds, I choose not to worry. I used to check it every 5 minutes at the height of my anxiety.....I was a disaster during those times!

Thank you everyone!! I need encouraging words right now!! I'm not as anxious right now but I just feel sad. My daughter told my mom last night that she misses me (the old me) I am trying to get out and do more but it's not enough. My daughter and I used to do everything together but because of this illness I'm not able to. I'm sorry I keep whining on here, just been a bad 2 days!! I have to believe that this will get better! This can't be the rest of my life!!!

Hey bambi bear!

This will get better! You will be back on your game. This battle just takes time to win. I feel your pain, as I was home bound for around 5 months during the height of my anxiety. My toddler was really feeling the weight of that. He wanted to go do all the fun things that we used to do, and I felt so sad that I couldn't take him out. I ended up scheduling Grandma1 and Grandma2 to take him out for me once every couple weeks. That way he still had his fun.

A combo of meds, relaxation techniques, coping skills, and time has brought me back to the point where I can take my kids out to the zoo, science center, parks, etc... with no problem at all. (maybe a bit of anxiety in tow every now and then, but manageable.) You CAN do this. I have faith! Just be patient with yourself!

Thank you! I'm glad you got through this. It's been almost 6 months of nonstop anxiety. I so badly want to feel better!!! I got my niece ready for school this morning and just doing normal things like that had me shaking with nerves.

I just do my breathing exercises. It keeps from having a full blown attack. I feel nervous all the time but the attacks are becoming less frequent with the breathing, meds, and therapy.

You are doing all of the right things! It IS going to get better! I am living proof.:)

I was in a pretty bad state when my anxiety was at it's peak. Through therapy, self-help and the support here...I have had a pretty amazing recovery!

SC has given you the best advice. I have had the most difficult year yet - and a lot of new stressors in my life, but I must admit I've managed to cut my meds way back - by listening and reading a book by Dr. Claire Weekes, HOPE AND HELP FOR YOUR NERVES. I first heard of her on this website and in one of my most trying times I went on Amazon and bought it. The best purchase I've ever made. She speaks to us and makes you NOT feel crazy. It has helped so much that I downloaded it at work and whenever I start feeling anxiety creeping up on me I put it on and listen to it. Mind you, this Dr. passed away some time ago, and her books/cd's were originally released in the 1970's - but they HELP!

Thank you Cornell!! Had to pay tribute to my dog Bambi!! I'm so glad I found this site! I was starting to feel like I was the only one in the world feeling like this! None of my friends understand what I'm going through. I wish I had a magic wand and could cure all of you!!
