Midazolam

Hi guys has anyone been prescribed Midazolam nasal spray to help with anxiety?? My doctor doesn't want to put me on medication so had put me on this nasal spray for when I feel like an attacks coming on. Would love to hear of anyone else trying or tried this??

This is an Rx in the benzodiazapine family. It is very effective in shutting down acute anxiety and attacks. The downside? It can eventually create a tolerance and/or dependency...so it is ususally not recommended for long term, everday use...or for individuals with prior substance abuse issues.

However, used as needed, and within your doctor's guidelines, it can be a very helpful treatment option for those dealing with panic issues.

I also believe that therapy, in conjunction with Rx use, is the best approach to a well rounded treatment plan for many people.

Therefore discussion of getting set up with a therapist to help you to manage your anxiety for the long term should be a goal if you've not done so already.

You may need to talk with your doctor about an alternative benzo Rx.

This should be an immediate relief type of med....and should not be taken more than prescribed.

In other words, don't take more if you do not see desired effect...(I am sure you wouldn't, just being precautionary!)

Give your prescribing doctor a call and see what can be done.:)
