Medication madness - Lexapro

Hi all
I have been on lexapro for 12 days now. For me I started feeling the difference almost immediately with my mood but of course with that came the side effects. So far I have had pupil dilation, insomnia, shakes/wobblyness in hands and legs, nausea, foggy vision, headaches/migraine and just an all round weird feeling. My newest one has me stumped though my back is aching so bad and my muscles are sore to touch. I'm aware muscle aches are sometimes a side effect but I am wondering anyone else on this drug if you're experiencing or have experienced something similar. And I know it is not chiropractic because i see a Chiro regularly and was feeling no pain until i started this drug. Any feedback/encouragement would be great.

Hi! I guess the good news is that you started to feel a difference immediately. :) That's a good start! Did you start at 5mg or 10mg off the bat? It almost sounds to me like you started taking it at 10mg with the heavy weight of side effects, but I could be completely wrong! I think SC had some good words of wisdom and encouragement there!

I did want to let you know that since taking Lexapro I have had muscle soreness as well. My muscles seem to be "extra sensitive" for the time being, and even carrying my baby around for a majority of the day will make me feel sore. Did you do any exercise or anything during this time? Another possibility is that your muscles may have been SUPER TENSE before starting the SSRI and now they are finally "relaxing." This definitely happened with me, and I also go through times when my muscles get all tense again!

JL- My doc started me at 10mg too and WHOA! is all I can say. I only took it for 3 days because it totally overpowered my body. I drew it way back to 2.5 mg and everything was awesome! I slowly increased to 1/3 of a pill and now I am likely at 4mg. (I break a 10mg pill in half and take a small portion off.) It sounds like it might be a bit too much for your body, but ya, check with the doc and see what they have to say! Best wishes to you! I am sure this will all work itself out! :D

Went to my Dr today, she seems to think my body is VERY sensitive to AD's as i had a bad reaction to pristiq before being put on this. She said my side effects were normal for the drug but has told me to cut it in half and try that as she did say it sounds like it's too strong for me. I'm also suffering with TMJ which is not helping my miserable feeling. blurgh gotta hang in there i guess.

Lexapro is the strongest of the ssri category so it is best to start at the lowest dose and take it from there I hope it works well for you keep us posted we are here if you need us.
