Spitting up blood?

All,

Every morning, I spit up mucus. That's not alarming. However, this morning, there may have been blood present in said mucus. I believe this has happened before and is only occasional. Yesterday evening, I did have some cranberries in a salad and some red potato chips. Maybe that's it? My dental hygiene isn't pristine, either.

Just seeing if I'm alone here. Sorry for the gross topic.

Hmmm, well not to be equally gross, but if your hacking mucus that has drained from your nose and it's dry, I would assume it would be perfectly normal to see a little blood. My nose is so dry with this weather that a lot of times when I blow, there's blood mixed in. Unless you're referring to something else, it sounds like no biggie to this girl!

I have had that happen to me in the past I would not worry about it to much but if it continues to happen I would go and see your doctor just to be on the safe side.

I can't say if it's coming from the nose or further down. My mom said what you said. I blow my nose several times in the morning, but usually after showering.

I'm due to have an EGD endoscopy on Thursday, but my doctor said I could wait a little longer. He is my second GI doctor. My mom wants me to reconnect with my first GI doctor since he knows me so well. I fear having upset him getting a second opinion on things despite him saying he only wants me better.

Sigh.

Perfectly normal. Especially during the winter time. Nasal blood vessels are extremely dry and delicate and even blowing your nose lightly can disrupt them, and with the ear nose & throat being connected, you can definitely expect to see blood in your mucous

Woah I would be scared! But everyone on the forum is right.. I get blood in my snot (ew) when I'm sick. I actually got it when I started Celexa which was weird.

You might check into whether or not your health insurance offers a 24 hour nurse's hotline. I've used this before when I have weird symptoms and I want a professionals opinion without bothering my doctor or spending money for an office visit copay. My insurance is through Reference Blue Shield, but you might check your providers website.

Oh my, I had a complete melt down three years ago over this,. I also was spitting some blood in my saliva and it freaked me out so bad that it ruined my life for a bit. Long story short, it was a bad tooth. But scared the hell out of me, still does.

No one here actually knows you in person or have seen the blood in your mucus. No one here is a physician who is able to give you a diagnosis. We can only offer support. You should consult your doctor asap instead of playing guessing game. I don't know what you are waiting for? Can you just have it checked?

Yes, of course I understand that but it's even more scary when you don't have any answers. It's best to get things checked first if you are going to spend days and weeks worrying about what is going on in your body.

No, it's not counterproductive. A few others have also mentioned you should get it checked if it bothers you. If you have made peace with it then good for you. Nothing is negative about getting a professional opinion.
