I can't talk to my doctor right now because she's on vacation.

My question is, can I switch my lexapro to paroxetine and change it back to lexapro again? My doctor gave me lexapro for a month, but I decided to switched to paroxetine, a big mistake... My anxiety symptoms goes haywire. From trembling agitation, hot and cold flushes.

I was taking paroxetine for two days now, but I want to switch back to lexapro, but the problem is, I can't talk to my doctor now to ask if it is okay to switch back to lexapro today.

My last take of paroxetine was 24 hours ago. Do you think it's not a problem if I take lexapro now? I am scared that I might get serotonin syndrome.

Hi there. I wouldn't advise you to make changes without your doctor's support. The anxiety and agitation you are experiencing are most likely just from the direct change in your meds. I would suggest that you put a call in to the pharmacist if you can't speak to a doctor. I hope you get this sorted. Serotonin syndrome is not too likely unless you are taking too much at a high dose, but a call to your pharmacist would clear that up. Good luck and be well!

I've taken 10mg lexapro for a month and my doctor switched it to 20mg paroxetine for 2 days now going on three. Do you think it's safe to change meds?

Too bad it's late in the evening here, I can't even talk to pharmacist.

Hi HP,

We can't recommend you making any changes...we are just not qualified to do so.

Is there another doctor within your dr.s practice that can help? He/she should have an on call doctor or nurse practitioner that you can speak with.

I am sorry that this has been a rough time with your Rx's. :(

I do hope that you get the answers and relief that you need soon. Keep us posted okay?

As scaredy cat stated they should have a nurse practitioner on staff that can help you, I know in my case my pharmacist could not give me any advice whatsoever in changing medication or weaning off a medication, he said I had to talk to my doctor, the clinician I talked with at my insurance company said I could also go to the ER and they could help.
