If it hurts that badly pain killers should be helpful but I would not take them because that would alleviate the pain and you won't know why/where that pain was occuring in the first place. Symptoms are important...they are telling you something is wrong.
It's very common to get pain since your dentist drilled your teeth! And I remember your filling is pretty big. Getting your tooth drilled is not a natural thing. Your teeth, your gum, needs to heal. Also you should not be chewing on that side where it was filled. I would start by only chewing soft food on that side for at least two weeks. Then you can start eating on that side more often but don't eat hard things. If you sprained your foot and when it is healed, do you jump around immediately? You do post-injury rehabilitation exercises. It's the same with your tooth.
Allow your gum and tooth to heal first before you start using it regularly with your normal bite force.
