Hi I'm back guys sorry:( its been 8 months now that I have been worrying about AML leukemia , and having these sensations (tightness in left side spleen area, shortness of breath, lightheaded, constant bubbles in my stomach, insomnia, explosive panic attacks ) and i don't want to take my xanax everyday because everyone says I'll become addicted but it really helps me to chill out. I'm so afraid of this disease guys idk what to do with myself I had the CBC done in late July but I'm really scared. It came out all well BTW. According to the Dr.

Don't be sorry for reaching out for support :) AML leukemia develops extremely quickly. If you did have this leukemia you would be bleeding from your nose/gums and have bad bruising without reason. You would be VERY sick. The symptoms you describe sound like good ol' anxiety. I think the pain in your spleen area could just be a stomach ache. Doctors wouldn't take a diagnosis like this lightly, they would begin treatment quickly and aggressively.

If you're worried about your spleen go back to the doctor and ask if they can keep an eye on it. Viral infections can cause spleen inflammation.

Like AJG said, AML develops really quickly and presents itself with really weird red flag symptoms. You would know it because your gums would randomly bleed (not after brushing), you would have unexplained bruising in weird places. Since your CBC came back clean, you have nothing to worry about :). This is just your anxiety talking-- don't let it win!

Thanks you guys relieved me a lot !! So I'd probably be dead by now after almost 9 months of this worry????

I also read that there are subtypes that develop differently with AML

You would know at this point.

Think of it this way...(you can't deny the rationalization here)

1) You have had definitive tests that tell you that you do NOT have an illness/leukemia.

2) You have passed the test of time...you would be symptomatic with indistinguishable signs were it leukemia...what you do have are anxiety symptoms.

3) Health anxiety abosolutely creates fear revolving around scary diseases.

...so given those facts, what conclusion can you logically make?

Now I know logic does not always alleviate our fears...and that is where you need more intensive help.

Therapy and/or self help for the health anxiety is what is truly going to give you relief.

We have the self-help here in the Resources...and I also recommend seeking a therapist who can help you through these issues with CBT.
