Just Having A Not So Great Day

Hi all,
My dad's mom died 8ish years ago from metastatic melanoma (worst form of skin cancer) that spread to every organ in her body. I've always had this freckle on the side of my foot where the calloused foot skin begins..I have a hard time calling it a mole because it's not raised by any means, but I've noticed it a lot more lately and I feel like it's either gotten bigger or maybe even a little darker? Naturally my head goes to the worst.

I made an appointment for next Friday with my dermatologist. I've had it looked at every year for the past 5 years and she always says its within normal range. I'm not going to freak out until I absolutely have to. That's my motto. No pulling the horse before the carriage or whatever that saying is :).

You did the right thing and you're getting it checked out. I'm confident you'll get the reassurance you need after your appointment.

As for feeling off....I'm with you guys. Not sure why. Thinking hormonal. Just feeling anxious, teary and physically exhausted. My health anxiety is a little high right now because I keep reading about people coming down with stomach flu and those who know me, know that I start to lose my mind at the mention of it!

I just got over my cycle and I swear it always takes me like 2 weeks to recover and 2 weeks to prepare. So there's no in between. Days like this as an anxiety sufferer seem never ending!

In all seriousness, your dermatologist will get you straight. Moles can be flat. I have so many. To be on the safe side, I get them checked twice a year. My aunt has had melanoma once or twice. Long story short, she was a red-headed lifeguard with fair skin. I may be at greater risk, but so don't let it bother me too much. I'm so pale, the sun needs shades.

I think you have done the right thing making an appointment with your doctor to get the mole checked as this will give you peace of mind.
