Thanks for this forum! (newbie here)
Well, It's your Lucky Day, Folks! There's always someone worse off, right? Well, today I get the prize. Lol! I have done 23andme and then used the Variant Report ($30) at https://mthfrsupport.com/order-reports/
https://mthfrsupport.com/2016/05/what-sterling-thinks-are-the-most-important-genes-on-the-variant-report-to-date/
OR some people have used this $19. Report generator (but I haven’t, so I can’t comment on it) https://livewello.com/genetics
Once you upload 23andme raw data and then run through an online 'interpreter', download the PDF, then you can search web, including SNPedia. HUGE amount of info.
https://snpedia.com/index.php/SNPedia
The mthfrsupport variant report breaks snps down into categories: Liver Detox, Mitochondria, Methylation, Neurotransmitter, Gluten Intolerance and much more. (FYI, geneticgenie.org only gives methylation and detox info, but it's free).
I am copying a SNP from my variant report and then searching for it in SNPedia and online (starting with my homozygous mutations). The Sterling variant report online has great charts, so you can see which gene affects which parts of each cycle (methylation, detox pathways, etc.)
I am also searching for a Functional Medicine Dr. and/or someone that works with genetic info. I have many symptoms (won't go into that now, yet depression and anxiety are among them. FYI: epsom salts bath/magnesium is great for mitigating panic attacks!). But for now, the online info is much more affordable than working with a professional (but it is laborious, and I am limited in what I can really do, in so far as being certain that what I try is what I should try- see below).
I am currently on a Methylation Support (methyl B vitamins) product (sublingual 2x per day) for MTHFR hetero MTHFR A1298C. I think I need to get a SAM (SAM-e) supplement (for all my COMT homo mutations). Probably should have done that first, but...oh, well. Will post updated info as I find out what is correct (for me). I also wish to consult with my local compounding pharmacy (People's in Austin- evidently they counsel on 23andme raw data)
I know I need to address the biggies: homo G6PD, COMT, MAO, CBS, GAD, BHMT, VDR Bsm, AGXT (and others) and my MTHFR and FUT2 (even though they are hetero). I am trying to eat 4-6 cups of high folate foods: dark leafy greens (kale, spinach, arugula) along with asparagus, broccoli, sprouts, peas, lentils, avocado, et al) a day, but I also need to research mitigating factors like: my CBS homo mutations and sulfur and oxalic acid (and my homo AGXT genes), so I’m going really light on the onions, garlic, spinach, Brussels, etc. (SO hard to not eat these foods! So, I’m going to research all that soon).

Here are my homozygous (double) mutations:
G6PD, COMT, MAO, CBS, GAD, BHMT, VDR Bsm, AGXT (and others)
and my Hetero mutations: MTHFR and FUT2
FYI, I have tested super high for heavy metals (lead, mercury, aluminum, cadmium and many more), so I had my amalgam filings safely removed (in 2008, using a strict protocol), and I've been going through heavy metal EDTA IV chelation since 2008 (off and on, probably about 40 sessions- I should go 1-2 times per week, but it takes energy and money. Sadly, I have neither.). BUT, since I was only diagnosed with the MTHFR and only on methylation support for last several months, the IV chelation doesn't seem to have been successful. I am hoping now that I am on methylation support I will soon (this year?) see better progress on ridding my body of the toxic heavy metals.
Thank you in advance to adding to this conversation. I look forward to sharing info/experience in what works/what doesn't as we all gain it.
