Hi Geneva and welcome to the A/P!
Meditation can be any form of slowing down the mind and body...and redirecting the focus away from stressors...and seeking quiet and calm.
This can be done with or without guidance...
...but for beginning, most people find that a guided meditation is helpful.
It does take practice to stay focused on the act of relaxing! It is almost an art, really in our fast paced world ....but it can be learned.:)
