You say it started about 4 hrs ago...

...are your symptoms increasing or decreasing currently?

Have you tried to get relief with the use of coping skills?

Do you have others symptoms coming on or adding to the chest pain?

Do you feel this is likely the anxiety, or GERD (combination of?)...

...or do you feel this is something new that needs addressing?

If you are not going to be able to get past this fear without being seen...then it may be money well spent to just go ahead and see a doctor/ urgent care physician.

If however you have been this route many times over before...try telling yourself that you have been fine previously...that this is just anxiety...and really focus on using some relaxation techniques for relief.

So...last EKG a little over a year ago...

If you are under 50, non-smoker...healthy in general...low risk, then I would say.you are safe to take your PPI, use your coping skills and ride out the symptoms.

I am NOT a medical professional however...so if you don't start to feel better...

...or get worse or new symptoms, don't hesitate to be seen.
