My first like this in awhile. Certain it's because my inlaws will be arriving tomorrow.
Short of breath, freezing hands and feet, feels like I need to jump out of my skin and run away. I even took my xanax earlier and this is still happening.
I'm trying to tell myself that these feelings are just sensations in my body, but when am I gonna start believing that??
I feel scared and jittery right now.

Just focus on it as an emotional response to upcoming stress. Nothing bad is going to happen (the worst already has). Just try to keep your breathing regular and let your body calm down as the adrenaline leaves your system.
Remember, the body cannot keep up that level of physical arousal indefinitely. It will get better.
Thoughts and hugs. :)

Thanks, NC.
My body kind of amazes me with how long it can hang in panic mode.
I'm slowing down a little now and my hands are warming up which is a good sign.
God, I hate these things.

Glad I could help.
Do you take notes of what symptoms you experience while having an attack? It might be useful to note them down then go through them again next time (but only when in full blown panic, not before).
The theory is that you'll be able to accept the sensations quicker and thus it won't last as long.

I haven't done that before, but I will. Thanks for that suggestion!

It's no problem. Stash it somewhere and next time you have a panic, give it a read.
Had my first proper therapy session today, so I'm trying to pass on any helpful tips that can help with self-reliance (of course, I'm not suggesting that you stop taking your Xanax if it helps).

Oh don't worry, even if you were suggesting I stop taking my xanax, I would probably ignore you!
I appreciate all tips!

It would be quite hypocritical of me if I did suggest that, since I have Valium on an as needed basis.
Just holler at me if I start to come across all high and mighty and I'll try to tone it down.

Park, next time remind yourself that this is not your first Rodeo, "You are getting better". Peace

Not at all! Keep it coming.
Larry,

P.,
Glad you are starting to feel better...sorry you went through that.:(
I hope that you can continue to use your skills to get you through the visit in peace and calm.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers that all goes well...that your hubs is supportive (key for me when my in-laws are visiting!!) and that you can focus on your little guy having a good visit with his Gma and Gpa...(another trick I use!)
Post when and if you need to while hosting...

Ugh. Woken up twice with anxiety. Short of breath. Panicking. I'm feeling upset that I'm having this set back. Plus I am so exhausted hit have to host Fathers Day BBQ today and I need more sleep.
Just took a xanax at 4am. :-(

P.,
I hope that you can get through today...and not just that, but find some enjoyment in it as well.
Use your coping skills...you are strong in them. You can do this.
You are a blessing to your family...and going to host a GREAT Father's Day for everyone!
Thoughts and prayers for feeling well, calm and peace.

Park, I feel like you and I are twins right now. I've had this extreme anxiety that is driving me crazy (and it's a short drive!) I slept fine last night but this morning tried to lay down for a nap when my grandson went down for his and I was just about
asleep when I woke back up short of breath and immediately feeling the panic. I'm so tired I could sleep standing up right now but I too am hosting Father's Day so I'm drinking my coffee instead. This is just so frustrating!! Do you ever notice yourself breathing really shallow? I've heard that that can cause the shortness of breath feeling.
