hello everyone, I want to wish everybody a happy 4th of July. I am having a real problem with Zoloft. I have been on it for almost six weeks and I feel really horrible. my anxiety and depression and my dr is really hightened!!! I have an appointment with a psychiatrist on Wednesday but I really think that I need to start titrating off the medication. I am feeling hopeless so depressed and scared to live.I need some advice about titrating off should I take 25 for a week 25 milligrams a day starting tomorrow? my doctor is not in this week and I really need some help here. I have never felt like this in my life before and I am reaching out because I am desperate to feel even one percent better. please help me.

First and foremost...if you are having dark thoughts/thoughts of self harm, I urge you to call and get immediate help!...I would be remiss not to post this information, so here it is:

Crisis Information

  • Don't forget to make use of other sources of support that you may have, such as:
    • Friends and family
    • Colleagues
    • Counselors
    • Clergy
    • Other community members
    • Support workers
    • Other healthcare professionals
    • Crisis center in your area.

We wish you well and hope that you find the resources and support that you need.

Okay, sorry...but I would rather over react than under, so I just want to make sure you are safe!

Even if you are not in crisis mode...you still should consult with your docotor's on-call stand in.  He or she can advise you on how to proceed.

We can't make a recommendation for weaning, as only a doctor should do so...

...but wish you the best in getting the help and answers you need.  Please keep us updated as to how you are doing.  We understand and care!

I agree with SC about consulting an on call doctor to see what they advice.

I not that you have only been on the Zoloft for 6 weeks unfortunately it does seem to be the norm to feel worse before you start to get better. It can take between 6-8 weeks before you can start to notice the benefits.

Keep us updated and I hope you get to speak with your doctor asap but know we are here for you.
