Just had a pretty bad panic attack. I hate this and I hate feeling like I'm going to die. I wish life was easier for me.
I don't think lexapro is working for me anymore, but I'm terrified to try something new. I feel like I'm stuck and I'll never be able to have a normal life.

Maybe you should try a benzo like ativan or xanax? something you take when you start to have an attack not daily. Hope you get it figured out and start to feel better.

I have ativan and xanax but it scares me to take them. I think I'll probably need to though since I'm tapering off olanzapine and I heard the withdrawals can be pure hell.
I'm just not having a very good day.

I was like that too. I was scared to take them...but eventually I am glad I did. Benzos saved my life.

Hi
Sorry you are having a rough time at the moment.
I would make an appointment with your doctor and see what your options are you may need to increase your Lexapro? I would say take your Benzo if you have them they really do work well and double up on any coping skills you have.
Keep us posted.

Hi sjennings45, I'm sorry you had an anxiety attack, I hope you are feeling better now.
What dosage of Lexapro are you taking? You might just need a increase in it, but I'm not sure since I don't remember what dose you are on.
As far as taking your benzo's , your doctor gave them to you for a reason. And that reason is to take when you have an anxiety or panic attack. IF you were diabetic you would take your insulin, so why is this any different? They will help you, so take them. :)
I'm sorry I can't remember if you are in therapy or not? If not maybe it's time to start, some CBT or mindfulness therapies really show good results at treating anxiety. And like Hibee said, double up on your coping skills. :)

SJ,
Good avice above, so I will just add my encouragments...and also suggest putting a neutral or (better!)
positive
spin on the statements in your post.
While venting is good and has its place...you don't want to get mired down in negativity...
Changing some of your thoughts like the statements below will help you stay hopeful and motivated:
*My anxiety is challenging, but I can be proactive and find solutions to feel my best and live victoriously over worry!
*I will do my best to be
open to trying new things for my recovery.
*With determination, working with my doctor, and therapy/self-help skills...there is help and hope for living the normal life I envision.
With encouragement!
S.C.
