Experiencing what I hope and think is an ocular migraine. Loss of peripheral vision/ seeing zig zags in my left eye. Ugh

Ugh.....I had my first just a few months ago. I saw rainbows and sparkles. Sounds nice, but wasn't.

All kidding aside, if it continues, it's best to go to the doctor or ER. The first thing they check for is a torn retina. I did not have one, but my stepdad did. The surgery to correct it is no biggie at all, but you do need to know right away.

You obviously know that I say this as your friend and not to scare you! It's likely an aura or ocular migraine, but since there's no doctors on here that I'm aware of, I just wanted to share what I know!!

Thanks for your support. Fairly certain it's a migraine. I am prone to them and have experienced this before. So annoying and freaky.

Yep, sounds like a migraine to me. I used to get 5 or 6 a month and always saw zig zags with them. Try laying in a dark room with your eyes closed. I hope you don't get the pain with it.

It surely sounds like a ocular migraine. I remember my first one plain as day. I was sure I was going blind, as I couldn't see my face in the mirror!!

I get them about twice a year. Like Lisa said, the best thing is to lay in a dark room with your eyes closed. I also get terrible headaches afterwards, most times:( From what I've read, there's no rhyme or reason as to why they happen.

Vision is ok now, I took some Advil as a precaution just in case I get head pain. I used to get juvenile migraine headaches but haven't had one yet in my twenties. Just the oculars. Fingers crossed there no pain accompanied with this!!!

Oh! Well ya didn't mention that this is a regular occurrence! Haha!

Hope you feel better and don't end up with the pain part of a migraine!

Feeling a lot better today. The vision stuff only lasted about 20 minutes, and then only a mild headache for about an hour.

That aura is freaky for anyone experiencing it for the first time. It was one of the factors that triggered my first panic attack 2 years ago.

Glad to hear it wasn't too bad in the end.
