Just started Celexa.....

I was on 60 mg of buspar for a short amount of time (by itself, not in combination with an AD). I had very few side effect. The two I remember having were difficulty sleeping and blurred vision.

Once my anxiety lowered, I started lowering the buspar. No withdrawl symptoms or anything, as I'm not really sure how much the buspar was really doing for me in the first place. But what is good about using it as an add on with an AD is that it should minimize the long term side effect some tend to get with AD's (like weight gain and sexual issues).

Once the celexa starts working, I can't imagine they'd keep you at such a high dose of buspar anyway. Good luck!!

Hi Sick, I have no personal knowledge of Celexa, I don't think I've ever taken it. ( can't remember for sure cause I've taken so many over the past 30 years). I do take buspar, 15mg 3x a day with no side effects. It is a very mild anxiety med and if you get any side effects they are probably from the celexa and not the buspar.

Please beware that you will probably have a few side effects, these should go away after 2-3 weeks, if they don't or are so bad you can't deal with them please talk to your doctor.

Remember it takes a good 6 to 8 weeks to reach full potential so it is important to wait that long to see any real benefits and know if this is the right med for you.

Also remember to step up your coping skills with the start up, check out the resources for some good ones that maybe you haven't tried.

I take Celexa, Just increased my meds to 30mg. It has worked for me been on them for many many years. Give it some time to kick in. Wont take away all your anxieties but will help you manage. Lots of exercise and Mindful meditation and therapy will help you tremendous.

thats a lot of buspar and for it not to work you must be bad off right now. buspar is easy to stop and very safe. great med
