Hi HT,
Walking is great,I do that when I feel anxious and it helps. I count slowly until I start to calm down, I think it's the distraction and gets my mind on something else.

Hi HT. Good thread.
I always first try to talk myself into a more logical frame of mind, and pray/meditate if I can't listen to myself ;)
Some of the distractions I use are:
Play with my dog.
Walk around my yard, and check on veggies & flowers.
Clean house.
Go through the pantry, and make a list of things to stock up on.
Make other lists of projects or chores I need to accomplish.
Turn up the music and rock out - dance around like a fool if that's what it takes. lol
Sometimes it helps me to drink either an ice cold glass of water or tea. I crunch on ice a lot too.
I have a lot of coping skills, because I'm sort of a life-long expert on this anxiety thing. :/

Hi HT
Great thread and tips.
I use a lot of self talk and listen to a lot of music to keep my mind of things.

I am in the midst of a high anxiety period due to being everything to everybody and everybody has serious problems :(
I keep putting myself on the back burner but I know I have to take care of me soon or I'm gonna crash & burn.
When I'm in a panic I:
Take a slow deep breath in thru my nose and then purse my lips and let a long deep breath out thru my mouth- at least 5 maybe 10 times
Get out of bed (I often can't sleep due to what SC calls "stinkin thinkin") and walk to the kitchen and bathroom-for some reason changing rooms breaks the cycle
During the day I am so busy having 2 jobs I worry less but have work stress so I trade one for the other but being busy is good
Sorry you are having a time of it too HT-I have been absent because I've been too wound up to even express myself
Wishing you peace and well being

Fantastic thread HT :) and I agree about
Whitesnake <3
- Taking deep breath and focusing on breathing (immediate effects on anxiety/panic)
- Listening to nature sounds/videos and imagining self in an Oasis/Forest nature
- Self talk (Loud if possible)
- Drawing / painting and reading a book
* A small exercise on breaking your thought cycle : Try drawing a straight line without ruler. Really focus on the process of making it as straight as possible.
Sounds easy right? Good luck :D
