Im sorry to keep posting practically everyday with random different things but one thing that happened last night to this morning has me really worried. Before taking lexapro i definitely was in a hard place but i would still have moments of happiness or feeling good for small glimpses. Since last night ive had this feeling that i fell out of touch with those feelings of being happy. I almost feel like I have no real emotion except for being hopeless. Please tell me that this might be a possible side effect or should I call and tell my psychiatrist? I hope somebody can tell me that this will pass. Ive been on the medication for 7 days at 10mg, can it be the depression is getting worse? Im really scared and worried guys.

I believe this will be a passing s/e...

...remember that the Seratonin levels in your system are in flux due to the effects of your start up.

It will take a while for the neurotransmitters to balance out and for the auto receptors in the brain to get the message... and for your moods to stabilize.

Hang in there and keep using your coping skills/ talking to us!

I really hope this all passes. I dont know how long i can take being in this state of mind. Ive used the xanax very sparingly but should i use it? Im not necessarily panicky but will it ease my mind with these feelings of hopelessness?

Aloha,

the Xanax was prescribed to help ease the side effects brought on when starting an SSRI. Xanax does in fact help most anxiety patients. Many here have taken Xanax and it has helped us. I personally took Xanax for 4 months 3x daily and had no problem quitting.

Im sure the Lex will kick in soon, yet I know that probably doesn't make much difference right now:( But I hope you feel better soon.

Use the xanax that's what it's for :)

I didn't like taking my valium during start up but it gives your mind a break which is what it needs.

Hi

Starting up medication can be a rough ride but things will improve so stick with it if you can and yes take your Xanax as that is a really helpful medication and works well on anxiety.
