From 200mg zoloft to 12.5mg of Paxil???

They are weaning me down from 200mg of zoloft. I'm at 100 now but only taking 12.5 of Paxil. Shouldn't I be going up more on the Paxil as the Zoloft is coming down????
Something doesn't sound right......

No, these meds, though in the same classification, have differing dosage guidlines.

Zoloft has a typical/average dose of 50 mg a day (max 200 mg)

Paxil has a typical/average dose of 20-40 mg a day (max 60 mg)

So this makes sense that you are moving slower with the Paxil, since your total dosage will be less than what you were taking with the Zoloft.

It should be a very gradual change over so it sounds to me like your doctor is following a correct changeover plan.

Very different dosage,I wonder what makes them decide to do so.
Paxil and Zoloft are different drugs altogether.
